It's a unique opportunity to witness and document a city and its people, significantly impacted by the crash of the U.S. auto industry and the recession. This workshop is designed for full immersion and is much like the type of assignment one would receive from an agency or editor. More than a workshop, it is a the opportunity to experience the documentary assignment in the field with expert instruction and support from working visual journalists. The workshop will teach real-world processes such as how to find stories, gain access, etc. Tehre will be daily critiques of the day's work and hands-on in-field training and support. This is not a technical workshop, so participants should be experienced photographers capable of working alone in the field, comfortable with their gear and willing to interact with people in a variety of situations. Photographers will generate their own photo-stories, exploring the aspects of Detroit and/or its surrounding communities they find most interesting and relevant to their project. To dowload an information package, including an enrollment form, click here. To enroll, you must return the completed enrollment form, credit card/debit card authorization form (if applicable) and liability waiver. The workshop must be paid in full at the time of registration. | | | |
